The ARP FRIQUE alter ego is a reference to two things: firstly the sound of the ARP SYNTHS, and secondly, to CHIC’s ‘LE FREAK’, showing love to the genre of disco. Be sure to know however, that you are not listening to edits of seventies jams. Expect a mix of FUNK & SOUL, DISCO JAZZ & WORLDMUSIC.

Arp Frique’s music may sound vintage and authentic at times but all tunes are ORIGINAL and made with live instruments. Mind you though, that all compositions are the product of the “insatiable creative urge” of just one man. A real FUNK SOLDIER!

Did you know? After finishing his 6 year medical study Arp Frique worked at the only Caribbean restaurant in Rotterdam. An eye-opener! The vibrant multicultural vibe led him into the scene of music from Surinam, Cape Verde, Curaçao, Morocco and India. After working only for one year as a doctor he decided to focus on a musical career as musician, DJ and producer.

Guitarist singer-songwriter Ray Meit started this trio some years ago heavily influenced by the blues with a solid foundation of rock music. With a mix of 60s and 70s rock classics, as well as his self-written compositions, this fabulous formation with take care of a healty rockin' heartbeat in the center of Pietermaai. Great songs! Screaming guitars! Pumpin' bass! Banging drums! Subtle and gentle. Exactly that!

Arango y La Familia Cubana

Arango, born and raised in Havana inherited a rich musical legacy. His mother, a celebrated singer, ignited his passion for music. Through the years, Arango crossed paths with iconic Cuban musicians and composers at the beginning of his foray into Cuban popular music.

The stage became Arango's canvas, sharing it with legends such as Celio Gonzalez in Mexico and Panama. Memorable performances alongside the likes of Alberto Beltran and Willy Chirino in Panama solidified his reputation as a captivating performer.

Later on Arango embarked on international tours, captivating audiences across Europe. Today, Arango continues to enchant audiences in Havana, where he performs with former members of the Buena Vista Social Club and other Cuban greats.

In 2022 Arango performed in Curaçao at Blue Bay. This year, Arango will return to the Dutch Caribbean islands of Curaçao and Bonaire in a sextet format, singing alongside pianist/director Saúl Valdes Viart, tres guitarist virtuoso Yuendri Casanova, bassist Ernesto Paz, timbalist Roselin Matos, and

Grammy Award-winning percussionist, Pernell Saturnino.

Undercover Band

You might know them from 'The Blues', that jazzy place-to-be on Thursdays, in that nice island restaurant bar at the Avila Beach Hotel. But also in Mr. Porter's Street Cafe, these giants can be seen and heard regularly in varied formations around drummer Marlon 'Lonte' Conradus.

The Undercover Band is a hidden gem on the island of Curaçao. Their music style is difficult to label - we read COOL JAZZ somewhere, but the band plays nasty FUNK and LATIN grooves just as easily. And with singer Toni Worrell, smooth SOUL is not far away.

Long ago we met drummer Lonte the first time, when we heard him play MILES DAVIS' SO WHAT. We hope he reads this and plays that classic with these musical greats on the MidTown stage:

Acoustic Meanings

Once upon a time, in a place called 27, and we mean the first bar at the Cas Coraweg, Acoustic Meanings as a this trio, was one of the first acts that played there. They continued to perform at the later 27 venue at the Waaigat with the succesful Wine-Dine-Acoustic sessions.

As a latin rock formation, under the alias of AM Curacao, Joe and Eduardo, with guest musicians, made name with their epic Rock Latino events. Great shows, with lots of energy.

You find that energy back also in their acoustic set. This duo knows how it works. Every time they present their particular sound. Yet always with a different feel. A setlist full of Spanish and English 'All Time' favourites. That's what Acoustic Meanings is all about.
